Of course they can be beaten. They've lost before and they will again. Will they win the championship? Possibly.

It's on Guild Wars' home page. I don't think they've fought before, and I have plenty of trust on EP and iQ's skill. I think they do have a chance.

"Do you see different play styles between guilds from different regions of the world?
Yes, we believe so. Korean players think about both strength and strategic points in battles. For American and European users, we expect more heavily concentrated fire power from parties."
War Machine....
Having watched all the Korean matches, WM's use of the map itself is their strongest point, I have not seen any of the European or American teams use the map as well, and they frequently seem more confused than the Koreans.
I hope they don't get embarrased as tactics should be right up there with build design. I'm an old war-gamer so I see the map itself as paramount. War Machine seems to think the same way.

I think practice really helps but THAT much practice isn't going to make that big of a difference. That's just insane.

Theres also lots of luck involved.in the end it just depends on who had a better stradegy not who practiced more and to have ur stradegy work takes some luck and coordination. we'll see wat happens. i predict korea winning anyway since from the way they've bene going so far they can prolly kick our asses. i'll still be rooting for america tho
btw i feel tons of rasim posts coming

I think it's just a matter of taking things seriously. Call it "cultural gap" if you want but I don't think competition spirit is a specific characteristic of Koreans. Every hobby out there (from football to chess, from darts to drinking beer) can be enjoyed at different levels. When things become semi-pro or even pro, you can't blame people for spending more time on it.
The point is : you don't get anything for free and great achievements demand even greater efforts and sacrifices.

Yes practise helps, up to a point. I don't want to take away anything from these top Korean players, but this is a game about brains as much as practise. And I give credit to American players for coming up with the best and the most original team builds. Having watched the War Machine at work quite often now, it is clear that this is a very good team with dedicated players that rarely miss a step, really know what they are doing and work like one man (or 2 men, rather). A less dedicated team will have to find a way to upset their relentless routine. Too much practise means you are playing something on autopilot often, so maybe that will prove to be their weakness.
I hope it is not EP facing them in the finals. Nothing against EP, but seeing that the build they used against pRp is almost identical to the one used by the War Machine, this would not make for the best of matches in the WC.

Well, an 1/8th share of $100k seems like it would provide some incentive to take things seriously.
I just hope the Yanks and Europeans have spent 15 minutes on each map, showing block points, explaining body blocking, and flag running strats, as they won't have the luxury to be confused when they are up against WM. Practicing as much as WM claims though, seems a little excessive, but again....$100k.

Keep in mind that this thread is about practice vs. playstyle, everyone. Don't make generalisations covered by faulty region-specific bases.

What is the one mistake you see other guilds make the most?
We think that actions in small battles do not contribute to the overall strategic war game. For this reason, users are weak in the "shake-off" strategy and prone to make more mistakes.

And the reason IWAY wins against a lot of noobs is found.

Uhm, the 100k prize is split among all the participants, not just the winners. As per the GW webpage
1st Place: $50,000
2nd Place: $25,000
3rd Place: $10,000
4th Place: $10,000
5th Place: $2,500
6th Place: $2,500

EP used WM's build against pRp because they couldn't take on pRp with a build that they've been playing with through the whole season. Ranger spike is pRp's specialty and EP was stupid for attempting to beat them at it. So they chose something unexpected. WM's build. They didn't know how to play it, but pRp didn't know how to fight it. It was a 90 minute match to see who could learn faster.

Well Korea has the top guild, America has the 2nd top guild and Europe has the 3rd top guild.
What does this prove?
That no matter where you are in the world you'll still have people who don't have a life .
Also it means the America vs Europe vs Korea match will be very interesting.

There are plenty who average 6+ hours a day on this game. And if you read further in the interview about their core and non-core players, it clarifies it more saying that there are those who play in one time slot and not the other. So while there might be some who play for 12 hours, it sounds like the majority of them just do 6 hours a day.

Just 6 hours Inde.......
